Treasured Memories Canada Crop Weekend - Day 1

Well I had a VERY crafty weekend just past - I headed down to Edmonton for a Canada Themed crop at Treasured Memories and had an ABSOLUTE BALL!!! I thought I would do a couple posts about it so you can see how much fun I had!

I left on Thursday after work and as you can see, my car was jammed packed - as usual!

Then once I got to the city and did some visiting with my folks and other errands I got to the crop and the fun began! As usual they spoiled us with fun goodies and good food. Supper was amazing - homemade stuffed hamburgers. So yummy!!

Of course being a Canada Themed crop, we had to have our Moosie Mascots

And we had to take photos in our all Canadian attire!!

And then my lucky streak of the weekend began. The first contest of the night was to see who was the most Canadian Cropper - and I WON!! I answered yes to all the questions asked (i.e. Have you ever been screeched in and what is it?) and then beat out one other lady with the tie breaking trivia  questions. Yay me!!

And then I won one of the door prizes for Friday.

And amongst all that fun and frivolity, I actually got some work done. I started the pocket letter and flip book portions of the Triathlon swap I am in and I am pretty happy with how they came out. I can only post sneak peaks at the moment as I want to do a separate post when they are all done. But they are working out good so far!

All in all, a very successful first day! And when I was out doing some running around trying to find a place to print off a photo, I actually ran into an old friend from High Level. So cool. So till my next post, stay crafty my peeps!! 

I have actually had a pretty creative week. As well as my other tag swap I finished, I got a more done on the Umbrella swap for another partner. The idea behind it was to make a friendship umbrella and then stuff it. For the stuffing part I decided to make a mini canvas and a tag for my partner. I also am going to pick up some goodies for it in the city, but here are the things I made.

Here is hoping my partner likes them - and that I can get them into the umbrella!! LOL. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

So I finished off one of the swaps that I started during my crop on the weekend. This one is for my pal Deb and was supposed to be a Finnabair inspired tag. I wanted to do one like Finnabair does where you use a picture and then add embellishments as the "hair" or a "crown". Of course I never took that specific class of hers so was winging it. But I think I did ok. Here are some steps as to how I made it, along with pics of the finished project.

  

This is the first step of the tag - I used one of the new Tim Holtz Etcetera Thickboard tags that I got from another crafty friend. I painted it with white gesso first, and then added some texture with modeling paste and some stencils. I also found a Prima Resin Frame shaped like a heart that I wanted to add to the tag as well.

The next step was to gather up all the different ephemera pieces that I wanted to use on the project, as well as the picture of Deb that I wanted to use.

After gathering everything I needed I started putting it all together. Once I had everything where I wanted it I sprayed it with white gesso.

Then the next step was to add the coloured sprays to it. I know Deb is a huge peacock fan, so I used my Dylusions sprays - I used Calypso Teal and Vibrant Turquoise. Then I also added some gold shimmer using the Tim Holtz Mica spray Antiqued Bronze.

The final step was to add the white flowers and other metal pieces that I wanted for the tag. Here are some close ups of the tag, as well as the finished tag as a whole.

I hope that Deb likes the tag - I am pretty happy with the end result. Especially since I hadn't taken that specific Finnabair class. I am hoping to get it in the mail today.

I did get a bit more done on my other swap I was working on at my crop. As well, this weekend is my Canada themed crop in the city, so I will have more pictures to post later. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps.

OH CANADA!!

Hey all! This is my design team post for July for the Mixed Media Mojo Challenges group! The theme for July was Summer Celebrations with the twist of your country. I did my take on a Canadian Flag. Here is a quick look at how I made it!

So these are my supplies - I had ordered these pallets and had another idea for them, but they were smaller than I had thought, so I had to rework what I wanted to do. 

But I think it all came out better in the end!

I started off by painting the pallets with my new Imapsto Paint by Finnabair in the awesome Poppy Red. I so love these new paints - they are so vibrant!

Then I wanted to give them some shimmer/shine, so I added some Crackle Glaze to them.

They didn't really crackle like I had anticipated, but I am still happy with the end result.

The next step was to add the maple leaf to the wooden canvas I was using. My fantastic husband made me my very own maple leaf stencil!!  

I used the stencil with Finnabair's White Sand texture paste. 

 

This is what the leaf looked like while the paste was still wet.

And this is what it looked like after it was dry. 

After this step I painted it with the same red as the pallets, as I wanted it to pop.

Then it was time to put it all together. 

Adding the pallets and then some other writing was the final touches.

And this is the final project. I kinda love that it came out as I had expected.

Got some great happy mail yesterday! I got my doll tag from my partner Faith and it is super cute!!! She also sent me a couple goodies. Check it out.

I also got down to my craft room like I planned. I finished the Finnabair inspired tag that I started for my pal Deb. Here is a sneak peak of it.

I also started a couple more things to go with the Umbrella swap for my pal Gena. Here is a look at the work in progress.

Had a pretty crafty weekend at the Library Crop. We had a small crop because one of our crafty friends who moved away was up for a visit and we just had to get together. We didn't end up with a huge crowd, but it was a fun one. And I actually got some stuff done!

First off I started a tag for one of my swaps. It is supposed to be a Finnabair inspired tag and I have lots of ideas for it that I hope will work out! Here are some sneak peaks of it - I hope to finish it tonight so I can get it in the mail on time.

Then I started working on another swap - an Friendship Umbrella for my pal Gena! It took me a while to figure it out, but I think I did and that she is gonna like it! Here are a couple pics.

And then I worked on some layouts using my pics and stuff from the Duran Duran concert I went to last week. I am glad I decided to work on the project at the crop as I wasn't certain the direction I wanted to go and I got some fab ideas from the other girls. And I LOVE the final results.

Gonna have a fun craft weekend coming up, so thought I would start it off by showing off my newest goodies!

Got my latest Scraps of Elegance/Darkness kit, and it is perfect timing as I have a swap to do that these papers and such will be PERFECT for! Check out what I got!!

I of course also had to hit a couple stores while in the city so have some fun stuff to play with there too.

My other fun mail I got yesterday was my tag from a swap in one of my Facebook groups. The amazing Deb was my partner and not only did she make me a fun tag she spoiled me with some fun goodies. Check it out!
