Tuesday 31 March 2020

Well March is certainly going out like a lamb - or as I saw on Facebook, like a velociraptor with PMS!! This visurs thing is so crazy, not to mention scary. Trying to stay positive, and my crafting is certainly helping. I got some more happy mail yesterday - this time from my pals at Scrapendipity. mostly just supplies, but still needed. AND she sent me a great idea book for free.

I also finished another of the classes from Mixed Up Creative Academy - this was one of the taster classes for the upcoming Wellspring 2020 course. It was finger painting, and didn't turn out exactly how I would have liked. But still kinda cool none the less.

I hope April is a lot less insane that March - fingers crossed. For the time being I am sure I am going to doing a lot more crafting. So till next time, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!

Monday 30 March 2020

My crafty weekend was pretty successfull. I got A LOT done - I can't post photos of all I worked on yesterday as I want to post the stuff for the Steampunk Sea tags all at once when I have them done. But I love how they are coming out. Here is another sneak peak!

The other project I did finish yesterday though was they layout for the online crop I participated in. There were a couple prompts I wanted to do and ended up doing one layout that covered both! The first theme was USE IT OR LOSE IT and you were supposed to use item(s) that you had in you stash for over a year. The other prompt was MONOCHROME. And it turned out the paper I wanted to use for the first theme - that I bought well over a year ago and never used - was also all shades of brown. So two prompts, one layout! YAY ME!! My ideas changed many times over the course of the day, but I LOVE the end result.

Other than this layout and the tags, I also started another of the classes from Mixed Up Creative Academy. This one was the finger painting one. Not sure I like it that much yet, but I am sure I will in the end. Since we are still basically on lockdown, I will likely finish it when I get home. I also got some more crafty goodies from another site I love so will have those to share too. So till next time, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!

STEAMPUNK GNOME

The other project I finished is actually one of the items I just got from Scrap Addicts on Friday! I ordered a gnome from them that I decided to do up Steampunk style. He was so cute even before I did anything to him, but I love how he came out.

This is what he looked like when he arrived - super cute but needed some colour!

So the first step was to paint him - I chose black and copper/gold for my base.
He is gonna be Steampunk after all.

Then once he was dry I added some copper sparkle to it.

After that, I added just a few drops of teal - though it doesn't show as well in the photo.

This is what he looked like when painted. Again cute but needed more.

So I added paper, some more paint splatters, and some bling to get
him Steampunked out in style!!

I decided his name is GEORGE!!

I have lots more I am working on today - I am doing more on my Steampunk Sea tags, but you will have to wait to see those as I want to do a whole post on them when I have them finished. My first project today is going to be for the online crop from yesterday - and yes I am behind! LOL. I had an idea in mind all day yesterday, but I needed till today to get it going. So till next time, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!

FAIRY CANVAS

So as I said yesterday, I was hoping to finish some projects and if I did I was going to post them in separate posts. I was actually successful and got TWO different projects finished. I figured I would share them today before I get back to other projects. The first I am calling my fairy canvas - I started it awhile ago and was able to finish it this weekend. It turned out mostly how I envisioned it. Here are photos of it right from the first step.

The first thing I did was add the rice paper over clay on the canvas to give it shape.

You can kinda see the dimension in this picture!

Next, I added paint - I used a copper cause I wanted it to be vintage in feel.

The next stage was to add more colour and accents. Was not exactly what I had envisioned when I started, but I am happy with how it is coming out. I then added colour the wings I wanted to add, but of course I forgot to take pictures of that process. The final step was to add the wings and other flowers and ephemera that I wanted to finish the canvas. Here are some close up photos as well as photos of the finished canvas.

I am quite happy with the end result - like I said, not exactly how I envisioned it but love it just the same. I finished another project late last night too so will post about that one in a separate post. Till then, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps.

Happy Crafty Weekend All!

So I had said I was planning on spending the entire weekend in my craft room and I have been pretty successful so far! I am participating in an online crop with Scrapbooking Oasis. I am not sure how much of the prompts I am going to get to, but I think it is going to be fun. I spent last night opening up my newest goodies from Scrap Addicts, as well as doing a bunch of prep for the projects I want to do. I hope I can get some stuff actually finished!

Thanks again Scrap Addicts for feeding my addiction!

And these are two of the journal pages I started - not sure if I will finish them or not.

I also got a couple other projects on the go, but I will post those pictures in separate blog posts about the projects when I get them finished. Here are a couple sneak peaks though!

So off now to do more crafting! Stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!

Friday 27 March 2020

Since I have reduced hours at my store for the time being, I was able to finish off the two art journal pages that I had on the go and showed you yesterday. Part of the reason I was able to finish them is I got a swap in the mail yesterday and my partner sent me some great goodies - including some die cut dog bones that were EXACTLY what I needed to finish my page. I was planning to cut some out just like it as I have the same die, but now I didn't have to!

These are the great cards I got, as well as the extra goodies she sent me.

And these are the two journal pages that I finished.
Can you tell I get lots of inspiration for my pages from the amazing

I plan on spending the majority of my weekend in my craft room. So till next time, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!

Thursday 26 March 2020

Trying to stay sane through all this craziness is getting hard - having flashbacks to last year and the evacuation due to the fire. But at least this time I can be in my house and in my craft room! I don't know what I would do if I didn't have that. I am keeping up the retail therapy and art therapy to try and get through the days. I got more happy mail yesterday as I got in an order from my pals at Treasured Memories

I decided I needed to use as much of it as possible right away, so started off by using the new Tim Holtz tissue I got to start a journal page. I am going to use this to do the Vicky Papaioannou inspired one I wanted to do.  This paper is a great start!

I also did a bit more on another couple journal pages I started on the weekend. I basically just have to find the sentiments I want to put on them and they are finished.

Then, since I was on a roll, I decided to play with the new Stamperia moulds that I also got from Treasured Memories last month. I had to wait till I got the clay I wanted, which I picked up when I was in the city at the end of last month. I haven't had time to do anything till now, but with being home so much I figured this was the perfect time. I got air dry clay for them, so will see how this works out! I have some cool ideas for them so fingers crossed for success!!

I hope you are all staying safe and that you can get your craft on like me to stay sane! So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Wednesday 25 March 2020

Trying to do the right thing and practice the social distancing. I reduced my hours at my store starting this week and I am trying to stay as positive as I can. I am trying to support my friends though and have been doing a fair amount of retail therapy! LOL - I likely should be careful how much of that I do though. First, I got some great bags from my pal Donna to put my newest pens into. I am all set now for the next time I can go cropping.

And since the upcoming crop in La Crete is most likely cancelled, I got Leona to send me the stuff that she ordered for me. I can't wait to play with it all.

I think I am getting more stuff in the mail today, so should have more to play with soon. So till then, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!

Tuesday 24 March 2020

Well as promised, I want to share the other two swaps that I got finished this weekend. The first is a pocket letter for another Facebook group I am in - Crafty Friends. It was supposed to be a Spring Theme. I don't normally do pocket letters, but every once in awile I do like to do them. Took me awhile to figure out what paper I wanted to use - especially since the first one I had in mind took me forever to find in my stash. And then it was a summer themed paper so didn't work. But I did find another paper that I think worked great. I had fun making it and I hope my partner likes it.

The other swap I finished is for another new Facebook group I just joined last month - A&M Creative Exploring Paper Crafters. I had signed up for their Easter ATC swap and originally I didn't get a partner - I wasn't sure if I had done something wrong in the sign up. Turns out that sometimes if there aren't enough people that want to do international I might not get a partner. But one of the administrators said she would partner with me this time. So then I had to come up with three Easter themed ATCs! I think they turned out alright. I hope she likes them.

I am expecting some more crafty goodies this week, and I have officially cut down my store hours, so I will likely be spending more time in my craft room. So till next time, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!!

Monday 23 March 2020

So I did end up spending the majority of my weekend in my craft room. To start I didn't think I had actually got that much done - mostly because I didn't really get any more art journaling done. But then I realized that I got three different swaps finished and ready to mail out later today! I was busier than I thought!!

The first swap I finished is for one of my favourite new Facebook groups I am in - Mixed Up Creatives. They do monthly swaps - usually ATCs. But for March they did something a little different. To promote one of their new courses - Wellspring 2020 - they did a taster challenge. Anyone who signed up was to do an Art Swap. We had to make something 4 X 4 and do a specific colour and theme picked by our partner. I got a great partner in Scotland and she chose LAVENDER & LACE for her theme. This is what I came up with.

I made the balloon all by myself - I am pretty happy with how it came out. I was originally going to add a small balloon chipboard piece from my crafty pal Reneabouquets, but it didn't fit the way I wanted. So I made a small ATC with it instead, and attached my scrapbooking business card to the back of it. I kept the same theme for it too.

I got a couple more swaps finished too, but since I should get a bit of actual work done I will do them in another post. Till next time, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!!
