Well as I said in my last post, I finished the journal page I showed the sneak peak of yesterday. The idea came from something I saw on Pinterest. It is supposed to be a hot air balloon with the butterflies as the balloon part. I am not sure how much it actually looks like a hot air balloon, but as my husband said, as long as I like it that is what counts. And I do so I guess I am good! LOL 

I also got a bunch of happy mail yesterday - including the new Tim Holtz rubber foam letter stamps. I CANNOT WAIT to play with them in my journal. In fact, I think I am going to use them on the other journal page I started on the weekend, see how they work. Take a peak at all my goodies!

I have to work on my design team post for Monday this weekend - I am hoping to do a video to show how I made the cards I made for this month. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

I got a bit of work done in my craft room last night - though I have been a bit lazy these last few days and haven't done as much as I would like! 

I started by opening my happy mail from my friend Tricia! She picked up some more Inka Gold colours for me - I have 28 now!

She also grabbed my March Mixed Media kit from Treasured Memories. Cannot WAIT to play with it. Make sure you check out their blog and if you like mixed media, their kits are AWESOME!!

Then I played a bit more with one of the journal pages I was working on at my crop. I got the idea from something I saw on Pinterest. So far it is coming out pretty good. I am hoping to finish it tonight or tomorrow so will post pics when it is done.

And lastly I finished off the tag I started at the crop. I made this using some of the new goodies I got from the city and my pal Wendy at W2Scrapbooking. The base for this tag was one of the new Tim Holtz thickboard tags. I really love the end result!

My other project that I worked on the weekend was week 2 of IW2017. I really struggled with this one - because it was painting a still life and not only is that not in my comfort zone it is obviously totally out of my skill range. I did a test run on some basic journal paper cause I did not want to wreck my IW journal with a total screw up. And it is really a good thing I did that because my trial run was a complete failure. Even by following Donna's video exactly, I still only ended up with a complete hot mess that looked like complete crap! So instead of trying to do a still life in my journal I went in a totally different direction. I used a stencil for the base and then did some glazing and shading until I got a page I was happy with. I am sure I could keep playing with it but I decided to just stop and move on. Turn the page as my other crafty pals say. Here is my completed week two.

So the rest of my weekend is going to be spent putting away all my stuff from the last two weeks and then hanging with my hubby. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

I forgot the other project I finished on the weekend! I made my pal Michelle a birthday present! I got it as part of a kit from my pal Deb and her store Gone Artsy that I got in the mail this week. She was really happy with it so I can call it a success!

LIBRARY CROP WEEKEND

So another crafty weekend is in the books. And man did we have a ball! We had some first timers come who had a blast. All in all a very fun weekend.

Started on Friday with most of the ladies in attendance coming for both days. And everyone got to work pretty much right away.

 

Of course, there was a lot of visiting involved, but I did actually get some work done too. I ended up making cards for the rest of the card bases that I had brought with me from last weekend. I did the same technique as last time with the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks.I had some people ask for a demonstration so then had papers to use! Love the end results.

I also prepped some journal pages and did some reorganizing of my new products. Very productive first night. And then we started the next day with more fun and laughter. And some prizes.

Then I spent time working on some journal pages - but they are still in progress so will have to post pics later. I did also work on a couple swap projects. I don't want to post them yet as they are not totally finished yet. But here are some sneak peaks.

So I am getting ready to go to another crafty weekend - but this time it is here at home so no travelling except down the block from my house. And the best part? I didn't even bother to unpack from last weekend! I still have enough to play with considering I got lots of new goodies in the city, as well as having goodies arrive from my pat Wendy at W2Scrapbooking. And I also got goodies from my other crafty pal Deb. It is a real shame that she closed her store as she has great stuff. Check out my goodies!

I also got more happy mail this week. My pal Gena sent me my swaps - some ATC's, and altered canvas, and another altered project. All totally cool! Love them all!!

HAPPY MARCH - Design Team project

Hey everyone - can you believe we are in March already? I know I can't. Cannot believe how fast this year is going already. So while I was at my crop I finished my design team project for Mixed Media Mojo. Make sure you check it out on the blog - and enter the contest yourself. You can win some cool stuff!!

The theme this month is birthdays/celebrations, with the twist of balloons. I decided to make a birthday card - and it was perfect too as my friend Paula who was with me at the crop was having a birthday on the weekend. So not only did I get to do a design project I got to make something for a friend. I wanted to use the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks, as well as try something different with the balloons. So here is how I made the balloons and a look at the finished card.

I started by just stamping some balloon shapes onto plain card stock.

Then for some of them I added some ink and others I left plain. Around the edges I added some dimensional paint in a variety of colours.

 Then I added some glitter and crystal effects to give them some shimmer and more dimension.

I ended up making several balloons in a variety of colors.

Then I added them to the card - the background was done by blending a few colours of Oxide inks, then removing some of the colour with baby wipes through a stencil. 

And then to add back in a bit more contrast I used the same stencil I had used to remove some colour and added some basic black ink.

My friend was thrilled with the card, and I have more balloons left over to make more cards with. Hope you enjoyed seeing my project. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
