Last night I decided that I wanted TV/couch therapy instead of art therapy, so I didn't make it down to my craft room. But I DID get some happy mail! I am absolutley in LOVE with Vicky Papaioannou - especially her art journal pages. I have done so many of them because not only are they gorgeous and her tutorials as SO easy to follow, but because I tend to have the same products she does. On the odd occasion that I DON'T have a product she has, if I like it I tend to buy it. This was the case with my latest purchase. She was using these AMAZING foam stamps that I was able to find on Joggles.com - I just HAD to get them. They came yesterday and I cannot wait to try them all out.

I plan on doing the journal page that Vicky used them on, as well as trying out the Geli Plate technique she used to create some prints that I can use for another journal page tutorial that I have from my Mixed Up Creative Academy courses. I will likely be spending the majority of my weekend in my craft room, as besides finishing up some journal pages I have couple swaps to get done. So till then, stay crafty my peeps. I am trying to do more crafting each day - art therapy to stay sane during all this craziness in the world at the moment. I decided last night that while watching TV I would finish off the art journal page that I did at the Tracy Scott class I took back at the end of February Scrap Addicts. I was waiting to get the Posca Paint markers I needed to finish the white pen markings that complete the page. It was fun to just sit and doodle on the pages while watching my shows. I really love how it came out in the end.

Since it is an interactive type page, I decided to do a video to show it off.

As you can see in the video, I also finished another page that I started that was inspired by a class Tracy taught at Scrap Addicts last year. I din't take the class by my pal Judy did and I took a picture of her page so that I could do something similar. This is the page Judy did in her class:

And this is the page that I did - a couple of close ups and the full page.

I even made my big butterflies look like they are flying! I put them on springs.

I guess it is a good thing that I have SO MANY scrapbook supplies, as I think I will be doing a fair amount of crafting over the next few weeks. I worked on some more art journal pages last night too, as well as starting another couple swaps, so will have more photos to share soon. Till then, stay crafty my peeps!

So with the world going to hell around us I have been trying to stay calm and working on my art/crafting certainly helps with that! I finished off another journal page from the awesome Journal Playground class offered by Mixed Up Creative Academy. I have to say I procrastinated with this lesson as besides being faily busy at work most of February, I was REALLY nervous about drawing a face. I cannot draw worth shit so this one was BEYOND out of my comfort zone. But as I put in a previous blog post I tried a pratice attempt and I was very happy and surprised at how it came out. So I took the plunge and did the actual drawing in full for my journal page, as well as doing the background for the page. I am totally thrilled with the end result!!!!!

When doing the background I tried using the Jane Davenport Mermaid markers like the tutorial because I have them, but they didn't work the same. Likely because the journal I am using has a different type of paper - it seems to suck up paint more than my other journals. But I just added stuff until I liked the look of the background. I ended up adding some paint and ink to the opposite page as well. This was the perfect place to attach the test drawing I did too - I wanted to keep it as I am really proud of the fact that I was able to draw a face that actually looks like a human being. This class was really fun and totally got me out of my comfort zone. Which is what is needed at the moment that is for sure.

And it looks like things are going to stay insane for awhile, so I am glad I have my art to keep me grounded. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

As promised, I did a video of my newest set of goodies that I got from Brutus Monroe. I decided that instead of a regular unboxing video I would show you instead a little of how they actually work. Since unboxing would have been a bit boring as all I had to do was take the bottles out of the box! LOL. I cannot wait to play with them more, but check out all the different colours that I got and what I have done with them so far.

As you can see in the video, I used the Metallic Aqua Pigments to colour in one of the Crazy Dog stamps that I had already stamped. I love how it came out. I already have a journal page planned for them, which I will post when I get it done. I hope you like my video and will try and do more as I continue to play with the products. I did what I said and spent a great deal of time in my craft room this weekend. Yesterday was so fun as I watched both the Facebook Live's that Tim Holtz did - what a great guy. If you missed them, check them out on Tim's blog. 

I was definately inspired watching the live demos - and since I had a swap to finish it was perfect timing! I used the new Distress Glazes on the crazy cats that I did for the card I was making. They are so fun to use. I love how the cats came out - and watching how different inks look with them.

I am really happy with the finished card as well. Was so fun to make.

And then I had so many left over pieces from making the cats I decided to make another card. I just love using Stampers Anonymous stamps!!!

I also did another journal page from the Art Journaling class from Mixed Up Academy. The prompt for March was HOME, and to me home is my love for my husband and my animals. So I had to do a journal page with animals in them. The tutorial was really easy to follow, and I also got to practice my hand lettering. It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself!

I have three cats and two dogs and I stamped that many. But when it came to the page there wasn't really enough room for them so I only used the two. But I am going to colour the others in use them on another project. And I still have to open up my latest order from Brutus Monroe, so will likely do another post tomorrow. It was fun to spend my weekend getting crafty at home. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

LIGHTHOUSE PAINT NIGHT

Spent last night doing one of the last paint nights (for the forseeable future) with my friend Mary. She has been doing them regularly at Traditions for the last 3 years and has decided to move on and do some other things. She will likely do pop up ones in the future, but for now Friday's was the last one. So I had to make sure I was there - mind you as soon as I saw it was a lighthouse I signed up as I loved the look of the painting. And I went with my other pal Tanya so it was bound to be a fun night!

Started off with the sky, which I loved right away.

Then did my rocks, which I didn't like until Mary helped me fix them!

Then did the clouds - again not liking them to start with, but I loved them in the end.

And then I painted a lighthouse! It is a bit wonky, but it is all me!!

It was a great group of ladies for sure.

We really had fun - it was a nice break from all the stress of life at the moment. And since this Coronavirus seems to making the world come to an end I plan on spending the rest of the weekend crafting in my basement. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Well the world seems to be going to hell, but without any zombies! My plans for the weekend were to craft my brains out, so it looks like nothing has changed! I did get some great happy mail today though so wanted to share. I got my ATC's from one of my swap partners at Mixed Up Creative - she said it was her first attempt at ATC's. You would never know it as they are AMAZING!!!

I also got some other goodies I ordered in the mail today - more of the liquid water colours Brutus Monroe. I want to do an unboxing video and show how I am going to use them so that will be another post.

I haven't been in my craft room much this week, but I did have some fun at work this week. It has been quite and I ended up trying one of the lessons from the Journal Playground while at work. I have been nervous about doing it as I cannot draw AT ALL and the lesson was to draw a face. Well I have to say I surprised myself as my practice attempt turned out pretty good - it actually looks like a face!!

The teacher for this lesson was AMAZING - her instructions were so easy to follow. I am actually looking forward to doing the lesson for real on some watercolour paper. I have worked on the background too so should be able to have a finished page to show off after the weekend. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
