STEAMPUNK SEAWORLD TAGS

I finished another major project this weekend. The amazing Tim Holtz has been doing online Facebook lives for the last little while since his doctors have told him he can't travel. The first one he did a few weeks ago was about using his new Distress Glazes and since I just got them I wanted to try it out with a project I had in mind after I got the newest Stamperia line - Mechanical Seaworld. He also did an Instagram mini tutorial on it, so I followed that as well. So here is how I did it:

The first step was to add Distress Spray stains with water to the tag

After they dried, I added the new Distress Crackle Paste to them through stencils, then added the Distress Glazes on top of the crackle paste while it was still wet. You have to let it dry naturally so you get the cracks. Once dried, you use a heat gun to set the crackle. 

I LOVE how they came out!!!

Then I used the Mechanical Seaworld paper to create more texture and the look I wanted.

Next step was to add the clay Octopus and Sea Horse I made

Then it was time to paint the clay. It would have been easier to do before I adhered the clay figures to the tags, but of course I didn't figure that out till after they were attached! It took me a bit to get the look I wanted, but in the end they came out even better than I could have hoped!

The last step was to add other ephemera to them - I absolutely LOVE how they came out!!

This is one of my favourite projects I have ever done! My pal Matt said he wanted them but I am keeping these for me for sure! I will likely be doing more crafting this week, and we might even do another Zoom crafting session on the weekend as well. I stayed up WAY to late yesterday (or maybe I should say today - LOL), but I did end up finishing the last of the challenge projects from the online crop this weekend. The first was a fold out card. I got some fun Easter paper from Scrap Addicts, so decided to use that for the card. I also decided to do two of them, since I had exactly the right size paper for the base to do just that. They are pretty cute, and a super easy card to make so will likely make more in the future - I kept the instructions for future use!

Then the next follow along was a layout Cori-Lyn designed. This time I had the exact same paper that she used so this was a great use for it. I have wanted to use the photo I had for it for ages so it all worked out great.

Like I said yesterday, I had the day off today. With the virus I can't really have my staff at the store, but my main employee told me how stir crazy she was getting so we decided that she is going to come in on Mondays for April and then I get to have the day off. And of course, I used it to craft. I finished another swap that I am in. This one was a Dragonfly Tag swap. I think it turned out ok - I was surprised to find out I didn't have as many dragonfly stencils as I thought (I really only had one!) and I don't have ANY dragonfly dies. But I made it work. Here's hoping my partner likes it.

SCRAP ADDICTS QUARANTINE CROP WEEKEND

So I was supposed to be going to a crop in La Crete this weekend, but of course with the virus that didn't happen. But we got creative and managed to come up with a great way to "get together" without leaving home. First off, the gals at Scrap Addicts decided to have an online crop. Our whole gang signed up for it - we were not going to be all together physically online, but they created a private group and said they were going to be doing challenges and games all weekend. That sounded so fun. Then another of our friends found another scrapbook store that was going to have an actual online crop - they created a Zoom meeting that we could all join and it would be like we were all together. So we joined that one (on Friday night), but it turned out that we really didn't know that many people and it was only a couple of our group and it wasn't that fun. So instead my crafty pal ShawnaLee created our own Zoom meeting and our whole gang was able to join! It was just like being together!!

We did this most of the night on Friday, and then did it again almost all day Saturday. We were all doing our own thing, but for the most part we were all participating in the Scrap Addicts Quarantine Crop. They posted challenges all day - every hour starting at 10 am and going till midnight. We had till today (Sunday) at 6pm to get our challenges in to qualify for points so of course that is what I did all weekend! They also did a couple of follow along challenges - a card and a layout. I was able to finish all the challenges by the deadline except the follow along ones (for one of the challenges I submitted one project I was working on all weekend, but I did end up doing another one that I started but didn't finish in time). So here is a look at all my challenge projects - I will show them in order of the challenges, not the order I did them in!

I just got home from celebrating my son's birthday and finished the My Favourite Things layout I posted above. And now I am going to finish the two follow along challenge projects. Didn't really spend any time in my craft room last night, as I did more helping my son and his family with their move. But I did get some more goodies in the mail so thought I would share. I had put in a Stampin Up order last week and it came in already! I mostly ordered supplies like stamp cleaner, foam strips and tape runner (which apparently I DIDN'T need as I have LOTS!!!), but I did get a few stamp sets. Two of them were actually free as it was Sale-A-Bration last month. 

I also got in a kit that I ordered from a friend on Facebook. It is from a Polish company and is a wooden phone booth. It also came with some flowers and paper, though I am not sure I am gonna use the paper that came with it as I think I have a different idea - I am thinking I want to do a Steampunk/Doctor Who themed telephone box. The funniest part though is that the kit didn't come with instructions! LOL - I hope I can figure it out. I did copy the link to the site that sells the kits as they had several pictures on the page that I hope I can use to figure out how to make the kit. Here are some examples of how it looks.

I hope it comes out the way I am envisioning it in my head. I might even try and get to it this weekend. I have a couple different online crops that I am signing up for, so should be fun. Till then, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps.

As I said in my last post that I had done a couple videos yesterday, so wanted to share them with you too. For the first one, one of my Instagram friends/followers suggested that I do a virtual tour of my craft/scrapbook roomd. I wasn't sure how to do it, but ended up doing a regular video so that I could share it here with you. I think it turned out ok - and those that have watched said they love my space!

Then I also got some happy mail from my fabulous crafty pals at Scrap Addicts - they put together some surprise boxes - I had to get one - and I picked up some other paper as well. Check out my goodies!

I plan on splitting my time for the next bit helping my son and family adjust to their move, as well as getting down to my craft room more. So till next time, stay safe and stay crafty my peeps!

I can't believe it but I was assigned a partner on Tuesday for a new swap and I already got it done! And that is even with helping my son and family do some unpacking as they just moved up to High Level. I LOVE that my grandkids will now be literally just down the street from me. But I am very happy with how the tag came out. The theme this time was Altered Dress Form, and I had a couple different ideas for it. Since I couldn't decide what to do, I ended up making a two sided tag for my partner. I hope she likes it.

HAPPY APRIL!!

So now we are into April, and the surreal world we are living in is continuing. But I on the positive side I am getting LOTS of crafting done! I spend time in my craft room pretty much daily! And I have been doing A LOT of retail therapy - likely too much, but I want my crafty pals to stay in business too. I got some more goodies last night and am looking forward to playing with them. I try not to order from the bigger companies like Stampers Anonymous and Simon Says Stamp that often, but they do support my crops so I shop with them on occasion. My latest goodies are from Stampers Anonymous.

I know I already have a heat gun, but Tim Holtz was showing in his demos the different things you can do with smaller heat gun as opposed to the type I have (the longer/skinny version). So of course I had to get another one. I also got some cool stencils that I have several ideas on how to use.

I got more happy mail yesterday too - another swap. And this one came all the way from Scotland!  My partner and I gave each other a colour and theme to use and I told her teal and flowers. And this is the GORGEOUS mini canvas I received.

It is even more gorgeous in person. I also found out another swap partner I got for another swap I signed up for. This one is an Altered Dress Form Tag and I started it last night. I will post photos when it is done, but here are some sneak peaks!
