May has definitely not been an overly crafty month for me, and the summer months might not be much different, but I have not disappeared I swear! I am still getting my craft on whenever I can. I also did find another place to hopefully showcase some of my art! It is called Mixed Up Magazine - an online magazine that showcases so much wonderful stuff. This is the project I submitted.

Hopefully it gets in the magazine! Fingers crossed!! So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

I actually got down into my craft room last night! It has been a crazy month so far this May and my crafting time has seem to suffer the most! But I did finish off my June Design Team Project, so no I feel pretty accomplished! I can't show it all off yet as I want to wait till June 1st, but here is a sneak peak!

I was inspired by my niece as she fit in perfectly with the theme of the challenge. I hope you come back and see the full project on the first!

Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

CELEBRATE LOVE Canvas Tutorial

Hello all! Here is my Design Team post for Mixed Media Mojo - a tutorial for you on how I made my May Design Team project. This month I did a canvas for the theme of "Celebration" with the twist of "wedding". So here is a basic tutorial on how I made the project.

Step one of the canvas I just added some texture using modeling paste.

Then for the next step I added colour by spraying the canvas with some of the
Prima Colour Bloom Sprays

The colours I used for the sprays were Empress Gold, Tea Stain and Ginger Coral. The colours are quite vibrant when first sprayed but I wanted more muted colours so blotted off the excess with a paper towel to get the look I wanted.

I then added some shimmer using gold Glitter Dust spay

My next addition was the dress for for the wedding dress. I just cut out the dress form using my Tim Holtz Sewing Room Sizzix Die. I used chipboard and then adhered some basic text tissue to it before I cut it out. Then I added a white sparkly dress to it - I used the same die and just cut out the dress portions of it to make the dress.

The next step was to add some more texture to the piece, so I used a brick stencil and added some of the new Finnabair Stone Effects Paste. I used the Concrete on as I wanted it to look like stone. I added it in a few places in larger sections and then cleaned off my pallet knife on the canvas in a few places (especially those with other texture already) just to add some of the concrete colour over the whole canvas and pull everything together.

The next step was to finish off the wedding dress and I did that by using some nice white lace and the Finnabair Sculpture Medium. This medium dries clear but makes any softer or thinner material thicker and solid. I coated each piece of lace I had and then laid it down on the canvas in some wavy patterns (to make it look like the dress was blowing in the breeze) and then once the sculpture medium dried the lace stays in that shape.

I then added some other elements to the dress - some ribbon, some glitter and a flower to finish it off.

Here is a close up of the ribbon, lace and glitter. To finish off the canvas completely I added flowers and my title pieces in chipboard. I sprayed the "Celebrate" chipboard with one of my new Marabu Art Sprays (I used Gold) to give it a nice shimmer and bring out some of the colours in the other ephemera I added to the project. I finished off the project by adding some flowers and other bling.

Here is the final project.

I hope you all like my project and the tutorial. I really enjoyed this project and love that it came out pretty much exactly how I envisioned it in my head. Make sure you check out and join the challenge on the blog - you could end up being named our Diva of the month and be a guest designer. We also have prizes sometimes too - so check it out! May Challenge

Well apparently this month of May has not been a very crafty one for me I must say. Between trying to get over my cold, being a bit busy at work and then trying to get out more that the weather is nicer, I have not been in my craft room much. But this weekend I tried changing that!

This was  very painty weekend for me. I went to two different paint night classes this weekend. The first was on Friday at the monthly class at Traditions that I just started attending last month. This months class I am calling Anchor's Away. I so love how it turned out!! It was a great group of gals and we had a fabulous time. And all went home with a great piece of art.

Then, on Saturday I had a private painting class with some of my gal pals. Mary from Messy Joys & Arts is the teacher for these classes and she will do private classes with enough people. I had wanted to do this other class the last time she offered it but wasn't able to. So glad we were able to work it out. And my friends had a great time too. This class was so fun and pretty easy too. Check out the fun we had.

The whole herd of elephants!

Make sure you check out Mary's Facebook page and if you want a fun idea for a really cool event/party don't hesitate to book her!! Her company is called Messy Joys & Arts

And now, I have a whole wall of my paintings at home. Love that I ended up with the ideal place to display all these fun pieces that I got to do!

So now I am off to do some more outdoors-y stuff, and then down to my craft room to work on my next month's design team project. And tomorrow I will be posting my May design team tutorial so stay tuned for that.

Til next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

So apparently May has not been a crafty month for me - this cold has just kicked my but and I have just not had the energy to get down to my craft room. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from shopping! LOL

I ordered a few things off Simon Says Stamp - things I haven't been able to get anywhere else. I also ended up winning a gift certificate from a Facebook contest. So I got myself a few goodies. Check out the YouTube video I made of my newest goodies!

I have several swaps to start now and all these new goodies to play with - as well as next months design team project to start. So will hopefully have a few more posts this month.

Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

I swear I have NOT disappeared off the face of the earth! I have just been so sick and then busy that I haven't had much of a chance to post. But I thought I should try and post about my weekend crop.

I had such a great time at the Friends of FloMac Fundraising crop this weekend. It was really great to be able to attend a crop at home that I didn't have to do anything but be a participant. It was relaxing and fun, though I didn't get a whole lot done!

It was a really fun group of ladies and I got to sit with my pals Dawn and Treena from La Crete so got in some great visiting. I did not get a whole lot of crafting done but I did finish one project over the weekend. This was inspired by a project that was taught at Scrap Addicts by Annette Green of Graphic 45. I was not able to go down for the class but then I went through my stash and realized that I had everything I needed already to do it myself. Thanks for the inspiration Annette/Graphic 45!!

I also did one of the make n' takes from the weekend. I added some shading to the project to make it pop. Pretty happy with the end result.

I didn't come home with much for prizes, even though I bought tickets on everything! But I did end up with one of the silent auction items. I got the Sundae basket so for supper on Sunday Doug and I had some awesome sundaes!

So I am hoping to get more time in my craft room this week as my cold is finally starting to go away. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Friday, 5 May 2017

So this has been one VERY long week! My husband had a slight cold last week and when I caught it, it hit me like a freight train! I have been off sick pretty much all week. But I do have some fun stuff to post so now that I finally feel like I am back in the land of the living I wanted to share!

May 1st my latest design team project went up on the Mixed Media Mojo blog - this is what I did this month for the theme Celebration with the twist of weddings.

On the 29th I will have my Design Team post and I will do a picture tutorial on how I made this canvas. I am also thinking of entering it in a local art show which might be kinda fun.

But now that I am back to the land of the living I am going to a crop this weekend! I will be spending tonight and tomorrow hanging with friends getting my craft on! I am all packed and ready to go!

A couple of the girls I am sitting with are working on a project together, and I want to play with my new sprays.

I will post more pictures over the weekend. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
