Monday 30 April 2018

Spent some time down in my craft room this weekend - worked on a couple projects that I am still deciding if I am going to use them as design team projects. As such, I can only show sneak peaks, but I still had fun playing!

The first one is a set of altered Altoid tins that are also for a swap. I haven't done too much on them yet as each layer has to dry, but I have a good start on them. My partner isn't in a rush for them so I am taking my time and doing them right! Here are a couple shots of the first steps.

Then I finished off a canvas that I started AGES ago. I painted the first layer months and months ago and never did anything with it. I then added some texture to it a few weeks ago when I got in some new supplies and wanted to try them out. This weekend I decided to finish off the project and use some of my 7 Gypsies paper that I bought to use for design team projects. I have to submit this and have no idea when it will be on the blog but here is a sneak peak of the finished project.

I ended up giving this canvas as a gift to the lady that works for me. I wanted to show her how much I appreciate her and she loved it. I love the picture I used on this canvas so much I might use it again on a layout. Still deciding on that.

This is going to be a pretty crafty month for me. I have a couple crops coming up and several projects on the go, so can't wait to share them all with you. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

I found another design team to apply for! Fingers crossed!! It is called Creative Embellishments and it is a chipboard company. I already have A LOT of their products and I love using them so it would cool if they picked me to be on the team! These are the projects I submitted for the application:

Make sure you check out their store and wish me luck getting on the team! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
I had a crafty night last night! I got a box of great goodies from my pal Renea and her store ReneaBouquets. She carries lots of great stuff and I can't wait to work with it! Love all my new goodies!

And as I said yesterday, I was hoping to create with the great O Canada paper I got from Treasured Memories. And I had the perfect idea for it, though it didn't really go as planned! I saw a couple ideas on Pinterest and Facebook that gave me an idea for a background. So I did this first.

I loved how it came out, but then when I went to do the next step and use the plaid paper from the O Canada pack, I realized that the reds didn't match - they TOTALLY CLASHED! So I had to come up with a COMPLETELY different layout than I had planned. This is what I came up with.

I really love the end result though - simple but exactly what I wanted. It did make me realize though that I want the dies that go with the stamp set I bought - I SOOOOO hate fussy cutting!!

And then of course, I had to do SOMETHING with the background I had made, since it turned out really cool just didn't match my other paper. So this is what I came up with for it. It is great that Octavia is so dang cute! Makes doing layouts so easy!!

All in all a very crafty evening! So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Thursday 26 April 2018

I got more goodies in the mail today! I ordered some of the O Canada paper by Photo Play - I mean how could I not? It has a MOOSE stamp!! LOL Check it out!

I have two different trips to Jasper/Banff that I want to scrapbook (I think I will do them all as one album) and this paper is perfect for it. I mean take a look at these pictures I have to use.

I have an idea for the first page I want to do, so I am hoping to get to my craft room tonight to work on it! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

PUBLISHED AGAIN!!!!!

Came home to some great mail yesterday - I am published again!! I got the latest  issue of Just Steampunk Magazine (Volume 11) and I have TWO projects in it. AND I got full pages for both of them - YAY ME!!! I was super excited.

And even better a couple of my crafty pals are in the magazine with me. My friend Wendy submitted for the first time as I had encouraged her to do so after she made these wicked Steampunk Letters at the High Level Croptacular back in October. She was so excited to be published - it is her first time being in a magazine. Check out what she made!

And then my pal Candy Rosenberg from A Vintage Girl - one of my biggest supporters and sources of inspiration - was in the magazine a couple times as well.

This album is one of the classes she taught when I met her for the first time.

And the set of three ATC's are the ones she donated to our Croptacular last October - that I ended up getting!! They are hanging with honor on my wall and are now in an international magazine!! How very cool is that really?!

It was so fun to get this in the mail - and it inspires me to create even more! So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Had a really fun night last night! Went to an Altered Birdhouse class put on by another crafty friend. There were only a couple of us in the class, but we still had a good time. And I am very happy with how my birdhouse came out - but how could I not with it being Steampunk! Check out some photos!

This is us getting started.

Jennifer and I with our birdhouses.

Our finished birdhouses.

And here are some close up pictures of my birdhouse.

Looking forward to doing more crafting this week. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps

Monday 23 April 2018

So I spent most of yesterday in my craft room again - this time I was working on design team projects! I finished off my April submission - though I still have to work on editing the photos so I can get it submitted. I also worked on another project to submit for one of the monthly challenges. I am still trying to figure everything out and I don't know if the challenge is for everyone, or just crew members. As soon as I find out I will share the link so you can all participate in the challenge if it is open to everyone! And in the meantime, since I can't post all the photos I will show you a couple of sneak peaks!

Here are a some shots of my April Design Team submission

And here is a shot of my challenge entry.

As soon as I find out more information about the challenges, I will make sure I share what I find out. In the meantime, stay crafty my peeps!

Sunday 22 April 2018

Got back to my art journaling yesterday! I finished off a couple pages that I had been working on. I forgot how much fun it could be!!

The first page I finished was the one inspired by the rice paper from Stamperia that I got from Treasured Memories. The paper was just so cool I had to do something with it and since I wasn't sure how it would work I tried it on a journal page first. Then I just threw on some other colours and more gears and wallah - I had a steampunk journal page! Here are some pics of it!

Some of my inspiration for the colours came from the paper, but I also got inspiration from another journal page tutorial that I found by the fabulous Nicole Wright. I met her and took a class with her a couple years ago at the Great Canadian Scrapbook carnival and have been following her ever since! She posted a great tutorial on the Ranger Ink blog and I knew I just had to do it. This is the link for the tutorial - I had to do some altering as I didn't have all the same products as Nicole did, but I love how it came out.

This is the canvas that Nicole did for the tutorial

And this is the two page journal I created.

I spent a ton of time in my craft room yesterday and I am headed back down there now so will have more pictures to show soon. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Friday 20 April 2018

I got down to my craft room for a bit last night!! I wanted to play with some of the goodies I just got from the fabulous Wendy at W2Scrapbooking! A couple of the Lindy's stamp gang items I ordered seemed to have very little in them but Wendy assured me that they are supposed to be that way as they are pure pigment and you need very little to get the colour. And boy was she right! I literally only used a few crystals with both the gel and modelling paste to get the colours I did. This is what I ended up with.

The left side is adding the colour South Shore Sand to modelling paste
and the right side is the same colour mixed with soft gel.

And then I had extra of the modelling paste mixture so put it onto a canvas that I had started
 - it was painted with some great paint I got back in July after taking a class.

Another couple items I got in my latest order were some sprays  - called Stencil Sprayer. I got a few colours so tried them out on a few tags. I used copper, iridescent and silver. I like how they came out. Great backgrounds, or the start of anyway, to the tags I used them on!

When using these sprays I ended up with quite a bit left over on the stencils, and since I didn't want to waste the spray I flipped the stencils and added the leftover colour to a journal page I had already prepped. Again, another great start of a background.

And since I was working with my journals finally, I decided to use some of Stamperia Rice paper that I got from Treasured Memories.  It was kinda fun art journaling again - even if all I did was start the backgrounds. I have an idea on what I am going to do with the remainder of the page even!

I am looking forward to doing more crafting this weekend! So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

MORE GOODIES FROM W2SCRAPBOOKING

I know I have said this several times, but I am really going to miss my friend Wendy's store W2Scrapbooking when she closes down. But in the meantime, she has same AMAZING sales on at the moment, so if you are looking for supplies, make sure you check her out. And she is still so awesome - she gave me some great prizes for my crop that is coming up in a couple weeks! Check out my latest shopping spree!!

I cannot wait to play with this stuff. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Tuesday 17 April 2018

Got more goodies in the mail this week - like I said before, shopping for craft supplies and using them are two completely different hobbies for me!! LOL

Make sure you check out Scrap Addicts and Treasured Memories for their online stores (or visit them in person if you are in Edmonton!) They have great staff and do a fabulous job sending you what you want. Check out my latest goodies from both of them.

I cannot wait to play with all these things! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Monday 16 April 2018

I actually got a few more crafty things done this weekend! I finished another project for my Canvas Corp Brands design team. I can't show it off yet as I have to wait till they post it, but I can give you a sneak peak. Can you guess what it is?!

And then at the end of the day last night I decided to work on a project for another Facebook group I am in. The fabulous Reneabouquets is having a couple contests on her facebook page and I figured I would enter them. This is the page that I did for the Under the Sea challenge. The picture is from our cruise in 2011 and is of the sunset as we left St. Lucia. As part of the contest we had to use items that come from her store and since I shop with her regularly this wasn't a problem. Of course it also prompted me to do more shopping! LOL. Hope you like the page - and I would love it if I won!!

I have more projects to work on - and I got more happy mail today too. So I will have more posts soon. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Sunday 15 April 2018

Had a LOT of fun yesterday at the paint night that I organized. I was asked if the fabulous Mary from Messy Joys & Arts could teach us this fun ostrich painting that she found and of course she was up for it. We even got a few first timers come out to try it.

Started out doing the background

Then we did the baser for the head and then the neck

Then we added the feathers - and there were LOTS of feathers!!

Of course then we had to add the eyes and beak.

This is my finished painting - I love how it came out. So cute - and I am calling him GEORGE!!

One of the ladies hates getting her picture taking so she left before this, but it was a great group of ladies and we had so much fun! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!
