Monday 26 June 2017

Well, I had a pretty full weekend - a fair amount of crafting as well as a fair amount of fresh air! I spent Saturday golfing with a couple of great friends at a ladies golf tournament in Rainbow Lake. It was a GORGEOUS day and we had a great time!

Then I got to get my craft on on Sunday a couple different ways. The first is we did a Canada paint class with my new crafty pal Mary from Messy Joys & Arts. You gotta check her out - her classes are so much fun and she was such a doll and did a separate class for us girls that were in Rainbow and missed the one she did at the library. We had a ball at my other pal Tanya's house getting out paint on!!

The fun of class!

Step one - I almost wanted to leave it like this! I am definitely going to grab this colour paint when I am next near a DeSerres - I LOVE this colour!!!!!

More steps - making it look like wood - surprised how easy it was!

My finished canvas! Mary had to help me make my wood marks not look like worms, but I am pretty happy with the end result!!

Absolutely fab times with a great group of gals - fantastic way to spend a Sunday!!!

And then the day was so warm I had to spend some time cooling off in my craft room! Can't show you too many photos, but I did get started on my July design team project. And it is turning out pretty cool. Here is a sneak peaks to tease you!!

So, I hope you all had as fun a weekend as I did. And I hope you have a fabulous week as well. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!!

I am so excited!! Creative Scrapbooker magazine has me on their blog today. I am one of the sponsors of the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival this year, so I get some great advertising out of it - in the magazine and on the blog!

Check me out on the blog:

They even posted the layout I did at Carnival last year with my bestie Cathy!

Super excited that's for sure! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
I got some more fun goodies last night, so thought I would share them with you. I think I am going to have to try and do more crafting and less shopping, but still having fun with it all! Check out my goodies!!

And of course one of the things I was waiting for in this package was some supplies I wanted for my July Design Team project, but they didn't turn out to be quite what I expected. However, I came up with another idea for them almost right away, so here's hoping I can do what I am thinking of. Here is a sneak peak!

This weekend is going to be more about golfing for me than crafting, but I do hope to get some stuff done at some point. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Thursday 22 June 2017

Finally finished one of my last swaps from last month - a summer wreath for my crafty pal Cindy. It took me a while to finish as I ended up deciding to do both the front and the back of the wreath cause it just didn't feel done to me with just the front part decorated. I really hope she likes what I did. I have to say I am a bit insecure about this project - it is not as filled out as some of the other wreaths I saw or the one Cindy made me. So I really hope she likes it. Here are some pictures of it.

So now I have to start working on the NEXT set of swaps I signed up for. I also got some more goodies in the mail this week, and I have to work on my July design team project. So I should be spending a fair amount of time in my craft room for the next bit. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
I got really spoiled when I went to the mail yesterday. One of my swap partners sent me two of my swaps yesterday and they are AMAZING!!!!

The first was an altered bottle that we were supposed to do. She did a great job with it - I love it!

Then she made me this FANTASTIC summer wreath! So creative - I just love the colours!!! The only bad part is my cats totally loved it too - as in wanted to eat all the ribbon. I had to get it up right away to get it away from them - lol!

I finally finished her wreath this week as well, so will post pics of that in a separate blog post. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
I just realized I forgot to post this earlier - I now have an ad for my store in an international magazine!

I am one of the sponsors for the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival in the fall and as part of my sponsorship I get some ads in a few of the next issues of Creative Scrapbooker magazine. I totally forgot when I got my new magazine that my ad would be in there! Woohoo!!

Make sure you check out the latest issue! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

JUNE DESIGN TEAM POST

Hello everyone! So I am a day late with my June project for my design team - Mixed Media Mojo. Not even sure why but I guess my day got away from me yesterday. But I hope you can forgive me when I show you the project I did this month. I did a layout and thought I would show you what I did to make it.

The theme this month was Graduation - with the twist of travel. I have to admit, this month's theme really stumped me for the longest time. I searched Pinterest to see if I could find some  quotes and when I put in the words graduation and travel I found this great quote - "Let the Adventure Begin". I thought this would be a great starting point. And then I remembered that my oldest niece was graduation from Grade 9 this year and I found some fun paper with a travel theme and I was off!

I started off by picking some great map paper for my background - I want my niece to travel the world and see everything she can as she grows up! I even found this great graduation cap that I altered with a great tassel to use on the project as well.

The next step was to use the different pieces of the paper I wanted - I cut out and inked the globe section, and tore/inked the other map section and mounted them on some basic brown card stock. I used pop dots to layer the paper so the page has dimension. I also used some burlap paper and inked it with a Paris stamp I had to create more texture and depth.

I then wanted to add even more texture to the page, so added some texture paste through a stencil on several sections of the page.

Here is a close up of some of the texture paste.

At this stage I added the picture of my niece I wanted to use for the layout. She is such a fantastic girl and takes some interesting photos! I didn't even have to work to accent the photo as she did that part for me - very creative that girl!

My next step for the project was to add one of my Julie Nutting stamps - I wanted to bring some other colour into the page and since my niece loves green I chose these colours. This stamp also reminds me of Madison - so fun and carefree!

Once coloured, I had to give her a cap and gown. I originally wanted her to wear the gown but that covered up too much of the girl so I had the gown behind her to accent her more.

The last stets were to add the girl to the page, along with the text for the quote. And then I was done - I had a finished layout!

I hope you like my layout for this months challenge. And I hope you play along with us in the challenges! Make sure to check out the Mixed Media Mojo blog, as well as our new Facebook group - Mixed Media Mojo Challenges

Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Tuesday 13 June 2017

I got another swap done this weekend too. I love doing the ATC's with all the groups I am in - this one was for the Scraps of Elegance/Darkness group and my partner Marci.  I made a set of three ATC's like I always do and this time I played with my new Finnabair waxes on them. I did a couple with a black base and one with a white base to show the different looks you get with different backgrounds. Pretty happy with the end results - really LOVE how these waxes turn out!!  Here are some pictures of how they turned out:

I also got my ATC's from Marci this week - a long with some sweet goodies. I definitely got spoiled with this swap!! Here are some pics:

So hoping to keep up with my crafting - I have another swap that I still have to finish. Hoping to get it finished this week. So till then, stay crafty my peeps!

Well I guess getting down to my craft room does not equate to blogging! LOL. Haven't had a ton of time for that, but I am going to do a couple posts here to show you what I have been working on.

The first project I finished was the Julie Nutting doll tag swap for one of my Facebook groups. For the first time I did a paper pieced doll instead of colouring it ant it was pretty fun. I also used one of the new Tim Holtz Etcetera Thickboard tags as the base and used my new Finnabair waxes on it! Pretty happy with the end result - hopefully my partner is too! Here are some close ups, as well as the finished tag.

So hoping to get more crafting done this week - especially cause I have some cool new goodies on the way! Till next time stay crafty my peeps!

Thursday 8 June 2017

Two nights in a row I made it to my craft room! I am on a roll - lol!!

I got some more work done on the projects I started last night - specifically the doll tag and the ATC's. For the doll tag, I did something a bit different - I normally just colour my Julie Nutting dolls but this time I did a paper piecing one and I am really happy with how it turned out. I used the Chiara doll  - as that is one of the ones I have the die cuts for. So no fussy cutting ha ha!! I had fun putting her together and I think she turned out pretty good.

Then for the tag for her I used one of the new Tim Holtz Etcetera Thickboard tags that I got from my pal Wendy at W2Scrapbooking. They are so fun to use and take mixed media products really well. I started with a layer of modeling paste through a stencil and then I coloured it black with some gesso. Next I finally had the chance to play with the new Finnabair waxes that I also got from Wendy. They are super cool and easy to use. And they smell kinda cool too! The end result was pretty fab!

All I need to do now is add some more embellishments and flowers and the tag is done! Hoping my swap partner likes it!

I had so much fun playing with the waxes I decided to use them on the ATC's I was working on too. These are the colours I used:

And the results are pretty fabulous if I do say so myself!

As withe the tag I have to add some more stuff to these, but they are almost done. I hope this swap partner likes them too!

It has been pretty fun finally getting back to crafting. I have missed it! I hope to do some art journaling this too. I have definitely missed doing that! So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Wednesday 7 June 2017

I did it! I actually got down to my craft room last night!! It feels like forever but I started several projects and really had fun. Of course, it helps that it is crazy hot outside and my basement is the coolest place in the house!

I started off by starting the ATC's that I have to do for a swap. I always do them in sets of three and the theme this month was flowers so I gave them all a flower background. I am planning on using the new Finnabair waxes on them so we will see how that goes!

The next project I started is for another swap - a summer wreath. I couldn't fine a Styrofoam wreath like I wanted, so this wooden one will have to do. And the first step was painting it a nice bright summer colour. I have a few ideas where to go from here. Hope my partner likes it!

The final project I started is yet another swap I am signed up for. This one is a Julie Nutting doll tag swap, so I got the doll I wanted figured out/cut out and started the background for the tag. I think this one is gonna be fun to do!

So I plan on spending more time in my craft room this week, so will have more stuff to post as I get things done! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Friday 2 June 2017

I got my regular happy mail yesterday! The latest Scraps of Elegance/Darkness kit for May arrived. LOVE LOVE LOVE these kits!! Melinda does such an amazing job with them. Check out my video of my goodies!

I cannot WAIT to play with all of this stuff. And I think I will have a fair amount of time to do so this next week. We are supposed to have a rainy week and my hubby has lots of work to do so I will have time to spend in my craft room.

Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Thursday 1 June 2017

Happy June everyone!!

I am really hoping to get more crafting done this month than last! not sure how that will work with the nice weather and all the camping we hope to do, but I am gonna try! I do have several swaps to work on so that should help.

But I wanted to start the month by sharing my June Design Team project for Mixed Media Mojo. Make sure you go check them out. This month's prompt was "Graduation" with the twist of "Travel." I will be totally honest with you - this prompt REALLY stumped me. But then I was wasting some time on Pinterest and searched a few ideas and found the quote "Let the Adventure Begin", as well as remembering that my oldest niece is graduating from Grade 9 this year and BANG - I had an idea!! I will be showing more later on how I made the layout, but here it is for you to check out!

And make sure you not only check out the blog, check out the new Facebook group - Mixed Media Mojo Challenges - if you join the group you can enter the monthly challenges and you have a chance to be named a Diva and be a guest designer. Sometimes we have prizes too!!

So I hope you like my June project and that you check out the blog and Facebook group. And I am definitely going to do my best  to post more this month! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!
