I got some GREAT happy mail yesterday - and I have been waiting for weeks because the goobers at Canada Post apparently lost the first package and my friends at Emerald Creek had to send me a whole new box. Back in around November they advertised what they called a Curated Box - a box ful of goodies from their new collection. I of course HAD to have them and it was worth the wait for sure!! Check out all the fun stuff I got.

I got so many cool things - not to mention I can likely decorate the box itself!!

I also asked my crafty pal Kim from Emerald Creek for some videos to show how this stuff works. I will likely do my own later too, but here is one of the links she sent me: Rock Candy Embossing Powder Tutorial. There is also this video of Kim showing off the products at Creativation.

As I play with everything I will show you what I make. I also did a bit more work with the skins I was making with the cream paste. I added them to the journal like I said I would, as well as to an ATC. I used up the rest of my cream paste to help hide the edges (I adhered them with matt gel). I forgot to take a photo of that stage, as I sprayed them last night with some of the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays (Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers and Wild Honey). I absolutely LOVE the results!!!

Not sure what I else - if anything - I am going to do to the journal cover, but the ATC needs a bit to finish it off. So till I do and can show you the results, stafy crafty my peeps!!

As I said earlier, I did a video to show how I used the Cream Paste by Stamperia and the Prima Icing Pastes. I told the fab gals at Treasured Memories that I would do it for them to show their customers what you can - and can't - do with the products. Check it out!!

This is what one of the Cream Paste skins turned out like.

These are the skins from my first try using the Spellbinders Embossing Folders. As I said, they did not really work with these folders. good thing they were not my favourites or anything.

As you can see, these folders did not come clean like the darker one did. I can still use them as embossing folders - well the gear one anyway, as I kinda broke the shell one! LOL

I hope the video is helpful - and if you want to play with these supplies make sure you call the gals at Treasured Memories and get them to set you up! Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Sunday, 26 January 2020

Well I had a pretty crafty weekend! I signed up for a couple different Art Journaling classes at the awesome Mixed Up Creative Academy, because I really wanted to get back to doing it and needed some inspriation. I really love both classes so far!  Here are my projects so far.

The first prompt for the one course - Art Journaling Challenge 2020 - was a bonus project to do a cover for our journal. We were supposed to pick a word for the year and the tutorial showed us how to do a masking technique. I chose the word CREATE as my word for the year and I had a lot of fun with this project!

I also did the prompt for January, which was list. I couldn't think of anything to use as my list, but I did find all these great snarky sayings that I have so used those instead. They pretty much fit with the attitude I want to carry through this year. I love how it came out.

I ended up having left over paint, as well as having the small hearts that I used for the masking technique on the cover project. I decided to make some ATCs with them. I was inspired.

The other course I signed up for is called Journaling Playground. The first prompt for this class was called CALM and used an easy technique using masking tape. I also got to make my own washi tape for this project.

I had a Gorguss Girl stamp that I had already coloured so used it as my focal point of the page. I loved that the technique called for using scribble sticks - something I actually own. This page was so fun to do!

The fantastic teacher for this tutorial also gave me some inspiration for another journal page, using washi tape. I got my hubby to custom make me the stencil I needed to use to complete the page.

She also suggested using up the left over pieces of washi tape on ATCs, so I made another set of them as well. I was on a roll for sure!!

I also did a video on how I used the cream paste and icing pastes. But I will leave that for another post. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

I was playing a bit more in my craft room last night, doing some more experimenting with the cream paste and icing pastes. The cream paste worked great this time, but I had more trouble with the icing pastes. I don't know if it is because of the type of texture fade I used or if my icing paste is getting old, but they didn't peal off as easily as the cream paste and left stuff behind. I can still use them so will have some funky texture to use on my projects.

I am going to try again with the icing pastes on a different embossing folder to see how that works. I really love playing with this technique and can't wait to keep doing it.

I also finished off another set of ATCs last night. I was playing with a couple of different products, and also used one of my new sets of dies - the cut out leaves. I am really happy with these. Will likely even keep them for myself!!

I am having so much fun getting back into my crafting after the holidays. Can't wait to keep playing. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Wednesday, 22 January 2020

I had fun last night at the craft night put on by High Level Chinchaga Adult Learning Centre, run by my crafty pal Gaye. It was nice to get a bit more work done on my album for my pictures from Creativation. Especially since it was a year ago! I need to get it finished. I got about 4 pages done and I am quite happy with how the album is coming along.

Only several dozen pages to go to get it finished!! A couple more craft nights like last night and I should have it done before Creativation rolls around again next year!! LOL

I also did some experimenting with a product that I already own! The fab gals at Treasured Memories, KC and Chantel, were just at Creativation in Phoenix last week and Chantel was showing off one of Stamperia's cool products called Cream Paste. I realized after watching her video that I already bought some from them so thought I would try to do the technique she was showing. You basically use the paste on a mould, spreading it evenly over the mould and then when it dries you pull it off ond you have this cool skin that you can paint and add colour too to create cool texture for products. I looked up this video on YouTube to see how it was done and if I could do it myself.

None of the moulds that I have really looked like they would be what I wanted for this, but I do have a couple of texture fades that have cool patterns and I wanted to see if it would work the same. At first it wasn't working as I was closing the texture fades like you do when you use them to emboss and the paste was not able to dry. So then I opened them up and it dried and worked like it did in the video above. They are a bit thin but it worked!!

I even did a short video to show off how they worked!!

I am trying again with some more Cream Paste - I am doing it a bit thicker this time to see how that goes. I also was chatting with another crafty pal - Matt - and he said that the Finnabair Icing Pastes by Prima are supposed to do the same thing, so I am trying those as well with some other texture fades that I own.

If these work how I hope they will, I am going to do a video of my own to show how they work. I will share that when I do. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Got some great happy mail yesterday! I did a tag swap back in October and the girl organizing the swap had some big personal stuff go on and didn't get the tags sent out till now. They were totally worth the wait though. I just love them all!!

So happy to be getting back to my craftiness. I cannot wait to keep crafting. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps.

Monday, 20 January 2020

I was able to get photos of the swap projects I finished yesterday. The first one is a set of ATC's for the January ATC swap at Mixed Up Creative. The theme was White on White and as usual I made three ATC's. I ended up giving one to my partner, kept one for myself and sent the third one as an extra with the other swap I had. I am very happy with how they came out.

The other swap I finished was for a swap for ReneaBouquets - the theme for the January swap was a snowman tag. I did things a bit different with this one - I created two tags in one really. I really love working with the Merry Misfit stamp set - I couldn't think of anything better to use when I heard the theme was snowman! I hope she likes what I made her.

I am looking forward to doing more crafting this week - I have a couple fun crafty nights coming up this week and next. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!!

Sunday, 19 January 2020

So my first crafty adventure of 2020 was a TON of FUN!! ShawnaLee, Lisa and I headed out to La Crete and Scrappy Apple on Friday and we had a ball. Don't we look like we would cause trouble?!

We got spoiled right from the start - Leona always gives us some fun goodies.

I didn't get much done Friday - other than visiting, but we had fun. And I did get a tag made.

Saturday started out with trying to get my mini album finished. I got a good start Friday and was hoping to get it done before lunch. I almost succeeded!

This is the finished album.

Next I worked on the page contest - I didn't win but LOVE how my page came out!! And Creative Scrapbooker did too - they added my photo of the page to their Instagram story!!

Next up I worked with the super cool new paper I got from Wild Whisper that was designed by my AMAZING crafty pal Nicole Wright. It is so vibrant and I loved playing with it. Check out all the papers in the pack!!

I absolutely LOVE how my layout came out - I think Nicole did too as she gushed about it on Instagram after I posted it!! Of course it is easy to make fun layouts when my grandkids are so STINKING ADORABLE!!!!

I was on a roll with the grandkid layouts at this point, and also wanted to use more of the supplies I brought with me so created a layout using the Doodle Bug paper and ephemera I bought while going through my crafty withdrawals on vacation. I didn't really think to hard on this one - I pretty much scraplifted the layout that was on the back of one of the paper packs. Still love the result though. I also got my son's approval so I guess I did ok.

When we got back from supper they did one of the big prize draws and I guess my lucky streak is continuing, as I won one of the big prizes. I did have a lot of tickets in the can for this prize, so my odds were pretty good!

Last up, I wanted to do a bit of work on my Creativation 2019 album that I brought with me. On Friday night I managed to cut out and sort all the photos, but I did want to at least do a page or two of the album. My idea for the page went a bit awry when I discovered I didn't have two pieces of the dragonfly paper I wanted to use, but Leona ended up giving me a different suggestion and in the end I like what I did better than my original idea. I still have lots to do with the project, but I love how it is coming along so far. Here is how the inside cover turned out.

It was a really great weekend, I had a lot of fun and I actually got stuff accomplished. A total win I think. Today I also finished a couple swaps, but I don't have pictures, so will post those later. Till then stay crafty my peeps!

Friday, 17 January 2020

This weekend is my first crafty adventure of 2020! My crafty pals ShawnaLee and Lisa and I are off to La Crete and Scrappy Apple for a weekend of getting our craft on. I know I have been going into withdrawals so I cannot wait.

I am all packed!

And I even have a TON of photos printed to work with.

I will post photos later to show all the fun we had. Till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Wednesday, 15 January 2020

I didin't get as much done this weekend as I planned, but I did get to play in my craft room, which was fun.

I got more of the new stuff I bought while going through withdrawals on vacation. Can't wait to play with them all. I plan to take some of it to my crop coming up on the weekend.

Even though I didn't get anything actually finished this weekend, I did get several things started. Check them out:

I worked on a couple tags for a swap.

Started some ATC's for another swap

And worked on the cover for my journal that I am going to use for the Art Journaling course I am taking through Mixed Up Creative Acadamy

I have to get packed and organized this week for the La Crete crop that is coming up this weekend. I can't wait to get crafty with my friends. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
