A CRAFTY NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS CROP WEEKEND - Day One

I had a blast this weekend at my crop - it was so much fun to go to a crop as just a participant (and not have to travel to the city for it either!!) I started the weekend with getting some happy mail - my order from Wild Whisper Designs - I basically just opened the box and packed it to take with me.

When we arrived the spoiling started - we had so many goodies on the table and lots of yummy eats and drinks. Great way to start the weekend.

I didn't do a whole bunch on Friday night, but I did get a few projects started. The first was a gift for my crafty pal Wendy. I wanted to make her and Donna thank you gifts for being so much help during the evacuation this summer. I finished Donna's at another crop and started Wendy's this weekend. I didn't get far but I did get started.

I also prepped the canvases that I wanted to work on for Saturday. I really had no idea where  I was going to go with the project but I had to start somewhere!

I will post more photos of these projects in a separate post, but needless to say I am very happy with how they came out. 

We also got more spoiled before the weekend was out - one of the things this crop does every year is all the participants exchange 30 THINGS. You bring 30 of something and then everyone goes home with 30 unique gifts. This year was even better than the last time - we got SO MUCH STUFF!!

So the other thing I have been working on this week are challenges from a Facebook group I am in. It is called Mixed Up Creatives and is an offshoot of an online store/teaching academy that I am also a part of called Mixed Up Creative Academy. It is out of the UK and the gals who run it are beyond amazing and do some fabulous projects! I have purchased several of the courses and love them all. 

One of the latest courses they are offering is called the Savvy Supply School - where they are gonna teach you how to use everyday products and supplies that you have at home to create fun projects. To promote it they are running a challenge this week called the Savvy Supply Challenge where each day for 5 days they show a different technique that you use to make an ATC. At the end of the challenge they are going to have a swap and there is also a contest. This was obviously right up my alley so I had to participate. Here are the ones I have done so far this week.

These are from day one. It took me several attempts to get this technique to work. Turns out I was using too much paint. The gals running the challenge were so great helping me figure out what I was doing wrong so that I could make the technique work!

These ones are from day two. I loved this technique as I figured it out first try! LOL

This one is from day three. I only did one and it took two tries - I didn't like the paint colours I chose on my first try. However I did like how the paint eventually dried so I decided to use the base after all and this is what I ended up with. Can't let an ATC go to waste!

Then this one is from day four of the challenge. I don't normally have rock salt at home, but earlier this year I found a recipe that called for it so I actually had it on hand.  And then when doing it I discovered it was sea salt! But it still worked - woohoo!!!  I think this one might just be my favourite of the ATC's so far - it has that grunge/vintage feel that I love.

I won't have time to do day five of the challenge until later this weekend, as tonight is when the crop I am going to starts - A Crafty Night Before Christmas. I cannot wait for the end of the day. I am all paked and ready to go!!

I really need some time with my crafty girlfriends - 6 pm is not going to get here fast enough for me. I will try and post photos over the weekend, but if not I will do a blog post on Monday. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Another project that I finished this weekend was for another swap. I am pretty proud of myself as the partners for this swap were only announced last Friday and I am already done the swap and have it in the mail!! And my partner let me know that she finished mine too! Man are we good!! The theme was supposed to be Thanksgiving but since she is American and I am Canadian and our Thanksgivings differ she said she was just going to do mine fall themed. I started that way but once I got to the letters the only word I could make was feast so hers is kinda Thanksgiving-y!! LOL Check out my photos of the project - I really love how it came out so I hope my partner does too!!

During all my crafting over the weekend I was also prepping for the crop coming up this weekend. I am really looking forward to it, especially because not only do I not have to travel for it, I am NOT an organizer so I just get to go and craft and have fun. I can't wait. CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS DESIGN TEAM APPLICATION PROJECTS

Another of the set of projects I worked on this past weekend were for another design team application. This time it was for Creative Embellishments - I just love their chipboard and it is so fun to work with. I did an altered art canvas - as a give for my husband - and a layout using some of their chipboard that I had on hand.

This is the canvas that I made for my husband - he loved it!!

And this is the layout that I did - I love my steampunk cat!!

I had another piece of chipboard that I had intended to put on the layout, but I just couldn't get it to work with what I was doing. So I made it into its own tag.

I really love the chipboard Creative Embellishments makes and would LOVE to be on their design team so that I can promote them and make more fun creations with their great products. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

WILD WHISPER DESIGN TEAM APPLICATION PROJECTS

As I said, I spent a lot of time this weekend working on projects for a couple of design teams that I wnat to apply for. The first one is Wild Whisper Designs. The design team call said that you didn't have to use their products in your application but I really wanted to as I have quite a bit of their paper and ephemera and love using it.

The first project that I made specifically for the design team application was a set of cards. The gals from Wild Whisper are very generous and I got a great paper pack at one of the last crops that I attended. The paper was very fun and whimsical so it was great for the cards I wanted to make. Here are some shots of the cards - I not only did the front of the cards I threw some extras inside and on the back of them as well. 

The other project that I did was kind of for the design team application, but mostly was a gift for a friend. Her birthday was back in September, but I wasn't able to get her gift finished until now. She sent me her favourite picture of her granddaughters and since it was a fall themed photo I did a fall themed canvas for her. I used lots of different product on this project - it is a very mixed media project! I sent her a preview and she loved it so that means I did good! 

So I hope that the gals at Wild Whisper like my projects as I would love to work with them. They are so fun and creative and their papers and other products are just awesome! Make sure you check them out. I just put in an order with them and can't wait to get it and play more with their products. So I basically spent the WHOLE weekend crafting and I got a LOT done!! I finished a couple projects to use in design team applications, as well as getting some gifts done. I still have to take better photos and then crop them and stuff, but here are just a couple shots of my projects in progress.

 to it I didn't like how it came out so I started again. This was the second version 

which I liked - after a LOT of layers!!

Then I worked on a layout for a design team application

And I prepped some canvases for projects to work on at the crop this weekend

And I started another swap

And played with my new sprays on a tag

And did some more work on my carosel project - my animals now all have seats!

I also finished this magnetic sign - that I started back in September at the Grimshaw crop! 

Too late for this Halloween but I can use it as a decoration next year for sure.
