HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

So didn't do a lot in my craft room this weekend - worked more on improving my dart game than I did on crafting! LOL. We did go to a Halloween party though so I didn't spend all weekend in my PJ's - check out our costumes!! We went as a Steampunk couple.

But yesterday a couple of my crafty friends and I did the second part of the Acrylic Paint Pouring class and it was a blast! I cannot wait to do more of this - I want to try it in my art journals and I am going to use some of the canvases that I did as backgrounds for altered canvases. Here is a look at what we did last night.

So this was Mary getting us all ready to go!

This was the first technique she showed us - called a flip and drag. I liked how this came out, but I think next time I will do it on a larger surface and I am going to use white as my negative space colour. A couple other people did that and I really like the end result.

This was fun though - this was done just dipping a canvas into the drippings from the first pour. No use in wasting all that paint!! this is gonna be a great background for sure.

And then this was the second canvas I did - this was my larger canvas and I did a puddle pour on this one. I just love how all the colours come out. Cannot wait to see how these look once they are dry!!

So the plan for November is to get more crafting done - as usual! I do have more swaps to finish and I want to do more art journaling and I am really liking this pouring thing. So till next time stay crafty my peeps!

So I did manage to get down to my craft room for at least a bit on the weekend. At the croptacular weekend one of the prizes we got was from my fab pal Candy Rosenberg. She donated some ATC's that she made and she had asked if I would be able to display them as that would make shipping easier for her. Of course they just arrived the day of the crop so I didn't have a ton of time to do anything. And then of course I didn't win them. So sad :(

But then the gal who did win them - my fabulous pal Jeannine - decided that I should have them after all and she gave them to me! So I finished off the display for them this weekend so I could hang them up! I just love them. They are so my style. Candy said they are going to be published too so that is exciting.

So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

So the week has continued to be on the slow side - recovering from this cold has been kicking my but!! But I did get some happy mail this week which made things better! My pal Gena made me a couple of great swaps - we were in the Halloween Flip Bag swap along with the altered paint brush swap in the Facebook group we are in together. I really love both of them - felt very spoiled I have to say! Check out my goodies!

These are shots of the flip bag.

And this is the paint brush - she knows me well as she did a Steampunk theme!

Not sure if/when I will get down to my craft room this week, but I am sure gonna try! So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

So it has been a bit of a quiet week so far - still fighting off this cold and work was pretty busy. A lot of travelling for selling hockey gear! But I did get some crafting in. I got in my latest set of Dylusions paints so of course I had to play with them!

So these are the newest colours - I love that they are more pastel.
Gives me more choices to work with!

This is the first page I did with them - they look really cool on a black background.

And then I wanted to see what they would be like on a white background. This one was fun - I also used my VersaMarker for the first time and I LOVE IT!! I wish my writing was cooler but this was a fun way to do the writing for the page. I will definitely be doing this technique more.

I also got the newest colours in the Dylusions sprays - my pal Paula brought them up when she came for the Croptacular event. I was finally able to get a chance to use them too. One of the prizes that I won was the new Dylusions diary journals. Since I don't use a diary (that's what phones are for! LOL) I decided to just use it like a regular journal.

These are the new colours in the sprays.

And this is the page I did with them. I used the some of the new stamps I got too.
Having fun getting back to doing some art journaling.

So I am hoping to get some more crafting in this week - I have some more swaps to finish off. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Last night I did my first Acrylic Paint Pouring class last night. I have been dying to try it for ages but I wanted someone to actually teach it to me. I found that most (if not all) of the YouTube videos just didn't explain it enough for me! But Mary at Messy Joys and Arts made it so fun! Check out all the messiness!!!

So this was us all getting ready - don't you love all the plastic all over everything!! I think Mary knew this class was going to be very messy!!

Mary got all our paint ready for us for our first technique.

This technique is called flip and it is pretty self exploratory - you put your paint in a cup, turn that cup over on the canvas and then pull it up and let the paint flow.

This is what it looked like when the cup was first removed.

And then this is what I ended up with after tilting the canvas. It is going to be interesting to see what the canvas looks like once it is dried as the colors can change as it dries.

The next technique she showed up was called a dirty pour. This is putting the paint into a cup.

And then this is what I ended up with after I just poured the paint on the canvas and then tilted it back and forth till it covered everything. Again I am interested to see how it looks once it dries to see how it changes as the pain dries.

The last technique was called swipe and I think this one is my favourite. You pour the paint on the canvas however you like and then use something flat to swipe the paint from one side to another. Then again you tilt the canvas until it is completely covered. As I said this one is my favourite - probably because of the colours I chose. I can't wait to see it when it is dry!!

So this is what the room looked like when we were done! This class was just amazing and I cannot wait to do it all again next week. Especially since we get to do a big canvas!!

So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!

Today I was still feeling better - but also didn't have any desire to leave my house. So got more crafting done! I had one more swap to finish. This one is going all the way to Australia. I started it awhile ago and finally got a chance to finish it. Here are some pics of it in progress, as well as some close ups and the final project too.

I decided to use one of the big Tim Holtz chipboard tags. And then painted it with a silver paste and added modeling paste for the first layer.

Then I added some other paint.  And ten I added all the ephemera -
including the fairies, since that was the theme!

So after I finished this swap I went back to to playing darts with my hubby. And I actually beat him in a game - I went out on a 90!! Yay me!! All in all a very successful weekend.

Now I am gonna go watch some TV, so till next time - stay crafty my peeps!

Saturday, 21 October 2017

So I was feeling good enough to get some crafting done. I finished up a couple swaps I had to get done. One of them was for my pal Gena - I still hadn't sent her the last swap I owed her so decided to get this most recent one done fast so I could send her everything all at the same time. The other swap I was paired with her for was an altered paint brush swap. I had a lot of fun with this one - and even used some of my new products I just got on it. I hope she likes it!

But now that this project is done I am going to go play more darts with my husband to try
and beat him! So till next time - stay crafty my peeps!

Friday, 20 October 2017

Well this week has been pretty slow - after the craziness of the croptacular weekend. Turns out my body thought I did too much and decided I should come down with a cold! In other words I have been sick as a dog and pretty much have done nothing all week!  But I did end the week with some nice happy mail.

I signed up for a neat swap called a Circle Banner Swap. There were four of us and we each started by making two flags in a style of our choosing. Then we sent it on to the next person and when we got the one from the person sending to us we made two more flags in a style similar to the ones they sent. In the end you get your original two back along with 6 others in a similar style made by the other people. I got mine all back (though I still have two more to make for my person) and I just love them all. I did mine in a steampunk/vintage style and all the girls did a great job matching what I had done.

And I even have it up in my craft room already!

So I hopefully will feel better enough this weekend to get some crafting done. So till next time - stay crafty my peeps!

High Level Library 3rd Annual Croptacular Weekend - Day 3

So day three was pretty much for the die hards that just can't get enough of crating! And we actually had quite a few of them I must say. Of course we also had some that just had to stick around right to the bitter end!!

The die hard crafters! Of course most of these are the ones who traveled a fair distance to get to the crop, so it only makes sense that they stay the longest!

Of course Lisa and ShawnaLee are continuing their ongoing competition to see who can stay the longest! I think this year it was almost a tie between them.

Of course Heather had to out do them and stay even longer!

Despite how much running around I did all weekend, I did get some crafting accomplished, and not just the painting class I took. I did some of the make n'takes and got some of my own stuff done too.

This was one of the make n'takes. I am going to put a Christmas photo of the kids on it when Tonya takes them to get Santa pictures this year.

These were the other make n'takes that I did. They are all really cute - the bear one is my favourite I think. It is supposed to be for gift cards but I think I am gonna keep it for myself!

And I had time to do a couple easy layouts. I love how Jeffery can fall asleep anywhere!

Of course I had to do one of Octavia - and this one was pretty easy. I just accented the background paper because I liked it just the way it was!

And I got spoiled by my pal Jeannine. She won one of the major door prizes - a set of ATC's that my other crafty pal Candy Rosenberg donated. I told Jeannine that I had been hoping to win them and she gave them to me! She is awesome!!

I have to add to this a bit, but these are the ATC's Candy made - totally my style don't you think?!

And of course this was Amanda and I after everything was said and done! We were exhausted but I am pretty sure everyone had a really good time. And we raised almost $3500 for the library. So I think we can definitely say this crop was a success!

I am sure it is gonna take me a while to recover - not to mention I think I am coming down with a cold. So till next time, stay crafty my peeps!
